Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel has taken the lead in environmental awareness and protection.

In December 1997, just after one year of operation, it was the first hotel in the Southern Hemisphere to be awarded the ISO 14001:1996 certification. Following their commitment towards the environment, the Labourdonnais got certified Green Globe 21 after two years.

In October 2002, a new accolade came to reiterate the Labourdonnais’s quest to achieve the highest possible standards in sustainable ways: the HACCP certification, the absolute reference in terms of food safety and hygiene, recommended for the minimisation of physical, chemical and microbiological hazards.

Since 2003, the Labourdonnais has implemented a quality management system based on ISO 9001:2000. Following the objective of attaining an Integrated Management System within the organization, the hotel successfully got re-certified ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and Green Globe 21: 2003 in February 2006.

In 2003, the Labourdonnais participated in the National Quality Award and received the ‘Excellence Award Level 3’ and in parallel was awarded the ‘Best Practice Award for Leadership’ and the ‘Best Practice Award for Information and Analysis’. Moreover, after being audited by SGS on their management systems, the Labourdonnais became the first organization in Mauritius to be certified QM 9004.
